Our Story…

Seda Kolbjorn, owner and pack leader, has been a dog person as far back as memory serves. Well, an animal person. Any animal really. Dogs, cats, lizards, snakes, horses. They began taking home stray cats and caring for injured wild animals as a child and it just never stopped. After working as a massage therapist for years, their wrist finally gave in and needed surgery. It was a wake up call.

Spending all day in a small, dark, windowless room, working their body too hard and coming home too tired every night wasn’t working for anyone. The dogs were bored, sad, and anxious. While recovering from wrist surgery, Seda began taking trips out to the woods or the desert with small groups of their and friends’ dogs who would tag along. Some really cool things began to happen.

Dogs who had all been stuck inside too much during covid, dogs who had been taking care of some very anxious owners, dogs who had forgotten how to socialize, started to find their feet again. Dogs who’ve never been off leash finally got to run and run and run and ruuuuuunnnn!!!! Of course, we all know that our dogs need this, but it became clear just how much they really do NEED this.

That turned out to be the beginning of an incredible new journey. Seda hung up their massage sheets and started taking dogs outside. Like, deep outside. They bring with them a lifetime of experience working with dogs and horses, and more specifically a background in trust-based training techniques and positive reinforcement. They have also been a life-long outdoors person who loves to camp, hike, snowshoe, backpack, hunt, fish, forage, and just generally get lost in the woods.

It is Seda’s belief that our dogs really are people. Most dogs were bred to do jobs that require incredible amounts of physical agility, stamina, concentration. They have an enduring need for opportunities to exercise their brains as well as their bodies. When we provide them access to appropriate outlets, we give them the tools to shine as their very best and happiest selves.
